One of the things I get asked a lot is how I play ps3, how I manage the controller when I have absolutely no finger function. So I thought I’d film me playing to show everyone how I do it, and also why I’m not the most skilled gamer.

Hmm.. I probably should have commentated while playing… ah well!

Here is a little about my disability, then I’l try and explain exactly how I manage the controller as you can’t really see it all.

I did have a fully functioning human body until I accidentally broke it on a bouncy castle. I broke my neck at level c5/c6 but with the way it healed i’m more of a c6/c7 complete. Which means that I’m paralyzed roughly from the nipples down. I have no movement in my legs or trunk, and my arms are affected meaning the muscles at the back are weaker. I also can’t move any of my fingers, which can be a bit of a bitch, but I get by fine with various techniques I have developed. My brain is 100% intact, so having old ladies coming up to you in the street and talking to you like you’re a child is a little annoying.. but I aint bitter.

So I play a lot of video games and it took me a while to figure out the techniques to allow me to play at a reasonable level (I do have my good games! ). So for MW2, I use my left palm or ball of my hand for the left stick, have to take my hand off it to use my thumb for the D-pad. I vary between using my right hand i a similar fashion for the right stick, and twisting my left hand over so I can aim while I shoot. I press L1 with my right index finger as I press R1 to shoot with the base of my thumb (kinda where it turns into a thumb from being wrist). For L2 and R2 I use my right middle finger whilst aiming the right stick with my left hand. For the buttons on the right I use my thumb, having to take my hand off of the right stick or trigger buttons. I switched to tactical so I crouch with R3, I had to as I kept going to aim and swinging my knife.. but now I see to be hitting circle by accident and doing the same! grr..

So that’s basically it, that’s how I roll! (no pun intended)

*Ok, I’ve had loads of people asking how I typed all that, every time I answer it my comment eventually gets pushed down… so… I use my thumbs, pushing down on them by moving my wrists and fore arm. It isn’t the fastest but I get by at a reasonable speed. I have tried a couple of different types of software, but to be honest.. I’d rather just do it myself!

To those who don’t “get it:” Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 is a popular shooting game. In this video, Cera’s boyfriend, and his friend, Calvin, own an XBOX 360. Whenever you hear a *bleep,* it means that one of your friends logged on.

YES, I did record the footage. And yes, “Flo Likes Sushi” is my gamertag for the XBOX 360 (though I don’t really play on it because of law school). However, I couldn’t get video of me “owning” my boyfriend because of corruption problems with my mac. Furthermore, because I didn’t own a HD recorder to capture the game playing, it was bad quality. I’d rather not stick in a minute of bad quality video, and I didn’t want to spend $100+ to get one. So, this will make do.

NOTE: I’m REALLY not good at CODMW2. This is JUST a video, so don’t start inviting me to play being pro XD.

Classic Game Room HD reviews CALL OF DUTY 2 for Xbox 360 (also on PC). Call of Duty 2 is developed by Infinity Ward and published by Activision, it takes place during World War 2 and features several characters from the allied perspective. You play as a Russian, British soldier and American and fight wave after wave of Nazis in dozens of intense battles across the globe. Massive in size and scope, COD2 has an immense single player campaign that is both challenging and exhilerating with constant, non stop gunfights and some vehicle levels. Duke it out across deserts, wrecked cities and through France during the D-Day operation, this early release for the Xbox 360 was a pretty heavy hitter as far as first person shooters go. Extremely affordable today and overshadowed by its younger sibling, COD4 Modern Warfare, Call of Duty 2 should not be overlooked by fans of action games, FPS shooters and WW2 video game enthusiasts. This CGRHD review of Call of Duty 2 has gameplay footage from COD2 showing game play during this World War II video game where the din of battle rarely dies down.
