What has online gaming done to improve communication in general?

What has online gaming done to improve global communication as a whole. Not just what it has done to improve your life but the lives of others.

That’s a very loaded question. Some might say that it has devalued communication, because people act strategic instead of communicative. They don’t want to know how your day was, they want to know for how much you’ll sell your boots to them. Not even instant messenger services have that kind of problem.
Also, people can’t use non-verbal communication in games. Expressions, gestures, even things like how you look and traditions like shaking hands are a large part of communication, and they help define where exactly you stand. People are a lot more respectful to someone when talking face-to-face. Then again, you might see that as an advantage to on-line gaming. Everyone talks to each other like equals, without social position, wealth, gender or age playing a part.

Others say it’s a much more gratifying experience than, for example, using instant messenger services to chat with friends. games are all about experiencing something different, and with on-line gaming you’ll find people with similar interests.

Also, talking to a controlled avatar is much more personal than talking to just a name and a profile picture, without the actual physic interaction being a problem. People aren’t judged on their looks as much, and people listen more to what you have to say.

its giving the people the chance to be friends and or colleagues with someone all the way on the other side of the world, and can give people really good relations with them.
