Counter-Strike is great as is Team Fortress and Day of Defeat. If you are looking outside of the FPS and more into RPG I would suggest Conan as the newest game. The online play is set up like Diablo where you and a group co-op through the games storyline. Guildwars is also like this and very popular. If you are looking for a WOW type experience then Lord of the Rings Online is pretty good as is Dungeons and Dragons. If you want a free MMO that is pretty good I would suggest heading over to GPotato.com and downloading Rappelz. It's a free MMO that has a system similar to WOW and a pretty strong community base.
