What can you use to make online games? Is Flash the only choice?

Is there anything else i can use other than Flash for an online game? Would Python work? If i used something else would i still be able to submit it on the same type of game sites that have flash games on it? Would i be able to submit it to any on game site? Could it still have as good/ or better / or worse quality as flash?

Thanks!

I think flash is the best choice to make online games……………

    god no, flash is terrible.

Python can be used to make online games. Infact, it has a game-based library written for it called PyGame. I’m not a python developer myself, but I’ve heard its not that bad.

You can use JavaScript, Java or as far as I know ASP.NET.

This depends. A game is anything people play to have fun, so basically, one could be written in HTML. However, I think that the type of games you’re talking about are animated games (that are on flash game sites)

Python wouldn’t help in this situation, you should learn flash. Luckily, Adobe has a 30 free trail (no restrictions) on their website: http://www.adobe.com/products/flash

Java would give you the choice of making such a game for a cell phone, a web applet or a desktop program. Plus, you don’t have to buy java. You have to buy Flash and you can only create Flash content with a Win or Mac box.
