Just who are nerds? They are known to be very clever, great at school academia, playing the latest games on the latest technology. They are good at RPG’s, enjoy anything sci-fi and love comic books

You think I have just defined what most people think of as a geek? Well you have, if you go back to the image of a geek from the 1980′s and 1990′s. There is not generally a very positive view of geeks and I don’t think that anyone would like to be called a geek.

Almost every household owns a games console or computer. And many people within these households play video games.

What about the success and importance of the Internet? Everyone these days uses the computer; we are all into computers, even if we think we are not. How many people do you know are on Facebook?

If you need even more evidence of the popularity of geek culture, one of the most popular programmes to come out of America in recent years is The Big Bang Theory. And of course The Big Bang Theory is all about nerds. This program is very successful in main stream America.

Look at the success of geek clothing And I particular, geek shirts. There are so many designs to choose from. The number of retailers and dedicated websites that sell nerd shirts are too many to mention here. The continued success of these shirts, are testament to how main stream geek culture has become.

Geek shirts have a number of different categories associated with it. Gaming shirts, Sci-Fi tees, popular culture tees, Web 2.0 tees, manga tees. I could go on and go. The diverse nature of geek shirts is testament to the popularity of geek shirts.

We all have geek tendencies. Next time you spot a geek, proudly in their geek shirt. Just stop and ponder exactly what have geeks given to the world.

You never know, when you next look at yourself more closely, you may be more of a geek than you first thought.
