Interesting Games You Can Play On Mac Computers
By Mathew Jonathally
A lot of people enjoy playing simulator games on their computers due to the fact that these games allow players to somehow experience things they cannot do in the real world, such as flying a plane. There are numerous simulation games available today, some are used primarily for enjoyment, and others are used to enhance their user’s analytical skills or a cost-effective way to continue learning the ropes of operating a certain vehicle outside of an actual training facility. The vehicles in these simulation games can resemble a real one or created from the game developer’s imagination. Simulator games involve a variety of tasks, which include racing, combat, or solely the experience of operating a certain vehicle. These games usually let the player experience how it is to ride these vehicles from the point of view of the pilot or driver, but there are also instances when a third-person view is available.[youtube:NXupTDaGNvE;[link:Computer Games ];http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NXupTDaGNvE&feature=related]
Before, in the nineties,, playing simulator games or video games on the whole was close to impossible for those who own Mac computers. While there is no doubt that Macs are excellent multimedia computers, gaming was never really focused on and the company really lagged behind their Windows counterparts when the gaming industry boomed in the 90s. Thankfully, 21st century developments to the Mac line have permitted simpler and faster porting of Windows-based gaming titles to Macs, and many game developers are even creating games that run natively on Mac.
Nowadays, one can already have a crack at flight simulators for Mac and various other gaming genres. Some of the popular flight simulators for Mac include X-plane and FlightGear. The widely popular Microsoft Flight Simulator X can also be played on Macs but you can only do this in newer models that have Boot Camp installed that enables you to make a partition in your drive and run a Windows OS and applications on your Mac.
The Steam Service from Valve Software also brought an extensive library of Mac games. To the uninitiated, Steam is basically akin to an iTunes store, only its focus is on computer games. Steam has become the go-to online store for people who own Macs who are searching for releases of indie hits, and various gaming genres, from casual games to more advanced ones. Some of the popular games available on Steam include Portal and Team Fortress 2 which are also made by Valve Software. You can also buy the popular action-role playing game Torchlight that can be run on the Mac using the Steam service.
Although there is no doubt that Mac computers are still not the top choice among gaming enthusiasts at the moment, it is good news that the company is adopting measures to make their computers more inviting to avid gamers.
In the meantime, Valve Software’s Steam service and other niche websites can supply exciting casual and advanced games for Mac owners. For more information on on flight simulator please go here
