Why do online games have different fighting styels than those one consoles?

I have played a few online games like WOW, Perfect World, Pirates of the Buring Sea and am I noticed one thing about them they have in common. Their fighting systems are all alike. Why do the game developers make the system like this( where you click a button and watch your character attack) instead of making them more like Devil May Cry, Bayonetta, Halo, or other games where the fighting system is more interactive?
Theres several answers to this question, but my opinion is based mostly upon two key facts,
Firstly, a MMORPG requires a steady playerbase, especially if its subscription like WoW. Once a player masters the moves as the would in an offline game, there is little more for them to aim for, whilst stat based "math" fighting allows for a greater range of abilities for players to aim for, like +1 strength etc etc, which would be extremely limited if it was purely a skill based game, rather than a "get better the longer you play" type game. If that makes sense.
Secondly, and this is pure guesswork, but despite the advances in internet connectivity, Lag is a much smaller issue when it comes to "click monster, fight" and the math it involves as much of it can be done locally. If you have a massively online SKILL based game, your reaction time, and therefore lag will have a huge impact on your enjoyment of the game. Have a few hundred players in the same place at the same time, and the lag would be so noticeable, that playing skill would be severely compromised.
This may change as we are starting to get to the point where this is no longer an issue (for instance MAG on the PS3 is a huge online skill based multiplayer game), so keep your eyes peeled for games that are massively multiplayer with minimal lag.

What is the best online gaming site ever?

What do you think the best online gaming site is? A site with hundreds of free online games, and one that has a good community too? I’ve been searching around for weeks, but I can’t find one that offers both games, and a good community. And all that I have found, are bad looking grey sites!
Can anyone recommend one? Why is it good? What do they offer?

Anesis Games is a great new site. It has hundreds of games and an active community. They even have a media center so I can listen to music as I play.
There’s a wide variety of games to fit each gamer. I’m in to FPS and they have that too!

I’ve tried many free online games and i just wasn’t pleased with the results. I’ve played online games such as Perfect Word, Runes of Magic, Last Chaos, and etc. I just wasn’t really pleased with them. I know im asking too much for a free game but i want to play one that i will continue to play for a long time without getting bored.
