Can playing online games slow down your computer?

After playing online games such as jigsaws and bejewelled I find my computer very slow to react and also on start-up. Disk defragmentation takes hours also. BTW Its a new computer!

Well, Disk "Defraging" is good for your computer. Since it’s new, it will help it even more. If you’re having problems with your computer being slopw after playing online games, you can always try deleting your Temp Files.

[Tools--> Internet Options --> Settings --> View Files --> Delete Everything in that Folder]

Your computer can also be acting slow because of the fact that you don’t have the right program to play the game.

What are the rules for trading games in to Game Stop?

I just got a wii and am wondering if I can get rid of some of my old PS2 games in exchange for wii games. Do they allow you to trade in PS2 games for wii games? Also, about how much money would you get per PS2 game do you think?

And if I can’t trade PS2 games for wii games, am I still allowed to give them my PS2 games for money?

It depends how much the game is worth. I did the same thing you did and for every PS2 game you’ll get about $6.00 worth.

INSTANT 10 POINTS How has online gaming become popular over the years?

Okay why has there been an increase of people playing MMOs and playing online?

What has changed this to increase?

Why has online gaming become popular now even on this generation of console compared to last generation?
Also like … the xbox360 and the ps3 and the wii now have online gaming … what sparked this off?

Internet speed, and computer capacity is the basic reason. Over the last few years these have both grown by a great deal and they get faster and better all the time. Just as technology is getting smaller all the time, it is getting faster, with better graphics, better memory storage capacity and therefore it’s getting more realistic and more immersive. More people are gaming now than ever, not just the hardcore geeks and nerds who still reminisce about the 8-bit days, but so many more females, young kids, older adults are all playing games now.

Gaming is more accessible now, it’s not just that all these extra people have suddenly started playing, it’s because they’re playing games designed for their demographic.

Online gaming is simply an extension of all that. More people are gaming and they want to connect with other gamers. Gaming used to have a stigma that only anti-social people used to play but now everyone plays games socially. Online gaming has been part of this and it’s probably a clever idea from the gaming companies. They saw this stigma and decided to make online gaming ‘cool’ by offering people community, friendship and fun all in one package.

Today, I can log on to Little Big Planet, make my own level and share with friends and strangers alike, I can then log on to Metal Gear Online and compete against my friends, then I can log on to Resident Evil 5 and play co-operatively with a friend, then I can get on to facebook and organise a night out with my friends and my family, then I can text my friend to see if he wants to play football in the park. All these things are community experiences, and they’ve all come in an age where community is important, people have the technology to stay in constant contact with the people they know and even people thay don’t. Because they can, they will.

The next-gen consoles all have online capabilities as they’d be leftin the dark without it. You can play and chat with your friends, and also recieve updates and extra content for games, which is just what was needed due to the size of today’s games and the need to push a game further.

We are simply following the logical trend in technology and gaming and that’s how we’ve arrived at this point.

Does anyone like to play online games to escape reality?

I want to escape reality, my depression by playing online games. Gimme your best online, escape reality game.

I signed up with this game site and it’s really easy to escape reality when you play on here: http://homegear.com/r/?q=23135339&r=2116… You can either play games for free, or you can enter tournaments to win cash. It’s fun to actually win real money. My favorite games are Bejeweled 2, Luxor, and Hearts. Good luck!

What are some old video games that would make for good Halloween decorations?

My dorm every year does a safe trick or treat. This year we are having a competition for best decorated hallway. Our theme is going to be old school video games.

So, what old video games are out there that would make good Halloween decorations?

the castlevania games. you played a vampire hunter on his crusade to destroy dracula or something like that. the game took place in all kinds of creepy locales, like old bell towers, graveyards, castles, and stuff. you had to fight medusas and ghost pirates and vampires and skeletons, and all sorts of other creepy things. the main character used a whip, but you could also get axes and throwing daggers and holy water, and a boomerang cross.

since super mario world, mario games have had haunted houses with ghost baddies. they would look cool as decorations.

i always thought the image of gannon from the first two zelda games was especially creepy. he was a dark, pig-like demon with horns. if you can get a copy of zelda 2 the adventures of link, lose the game and check out the image of the laughing gannon. it is a well-known game image that you could probably create pretty easily.

there are a lot of old nintendo games that were kind of creepy, but might not have any memorable imagery that would be fun for halloween. i’d stick with recognizeable images from well-known games.

some more things that may or may not work:

few enemies in a game were as creepy as the metroids. these jellyfish-like aliens would swoop down out of nowhere, latch onto your face and just start sucking the energy out of you. the only way to destroy them was to freeze them and then drop a super bomb on them. many of the metroid bosses were creepy as well, especially ridley, the demonic-looking pteradactyl/dragon thing.

lots of scary enemies in dragon warrior. ghosts, wolves, dragons, skeletons, creepy magicians… but i’m not sure how familiar the american audience is with dragon warrior games.

pacman ghosts?

hope this has helped you with some ideas

What kind of games should I install on my Grandmas computer?

She likes the card games that come with windows but I want to put on other games for her. She doesn’t have internet and my uncle uses the computer as well. Keep in mind that her vision sucks and shes old, no shooters.

Perhaps puzzle games ?
